Gilbert & Sullivan Austin (GSA) announces open auditions for Patience.

Step into a world of aesthetic poets, ardent admirers, and thoroughly bewildered dragoons. Patience (1881) is Gilbert & Sullivan’s sparkling satire of artistic fads and the sudden chaos that overtakes a quiet English village when everyone becomes infatuated with aesthetic poetry.

Two rival poets vie for the adoration of twenty devoted admirers, while Dragoons attempt, with hilarious results, to reinvent themselves in the new Oscar Wilde–inspired aesthetic.

Though Patience lampoons the Aesthetic Movement, its themes feel strikingly modern. We live in a world immersed in curated identities; Gilbert & Sullivan remind us that behind every aesthetic, Victorian or contemporary, stands a real human trying to understand love, and that authenticity never goes out of style.

Join Gilbert & Sullivan Austin for this fully staged summer grand production, directed by Carol Brown with music direction by Jeffrey Jones-Ragona. This summer grand production of Patience, running June 12 -21, will have a full set, live orchestra, and richly designed, gorgeous costumes.

Auditions are January 31st at: Abiding Love Lutheran Church, 7210 Brush Country Road - Map
